Information about the host

The barn is a stunning open plan 17th century grade II listed country hideaway available on a self catering basis for a minimum of 2-3 nights. The barn (which is ideally situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park) is separate from the main house and has its own small patio area overlooking the beautiful village of Ruston, perfect to enjoy a gin and tonic in the evenings. This is a holiday cottage with a beautiful mix of old and new. The mezzanine sleeping area hosts an antique French double bed and spacious inset bath, perfect to relax in after a long day sightseeing or hiking. The ground floor offers open plan spacious living dressed with beautiful pieces of antique furniture along with design led modern pieces. The barn also has underfloor heating and log burner for those cosy nights in. A fully fitted kitchen, downstairs shower room with twin basins on solid oak counter tops plus dining and lounge area are all finished to a very high standard. Also available for guests convenience are BOSE bluetooth speakers, dvd's and games, WIFI, all cooking utensils, washer/dryer etc. Two mountain bikes are available to use at your leisure.

Hi, we're Lisa, Martin, Henry (and Baxter the Golden Retriever.) We moved to the North York Moors 4 years ago to escape the chaos of London and it was the best decision we every made! Martin who's a builder lovingly restored the property whilst I spent many months searching for high quality but unusual pieces to make the most of the stunning space in the barn with its super high ceilings and amazing character. We're really proud of what we've achieved and the feedback we receive from guests makes it all worthwhile. We're in a great location, set in a tiny unspoilt village yet it's very easy to get everywhere and there's so much to see and do here from visiting Helmsley, York, Malton, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby etc, see the great Dalby Forest, the most fabulous walks, the gorgeous Cayton Bay sandy beach 15 minutes away, lots of good country pubs, farm shops and tea rooms, wildlife right on our doorstep and so much more. We hope to welcome you to our lovely barn, whether you're looking to explore the area or just totally unwind and relax we're sure you'll have a great time.

There are many activities in the area such as walking, horse riding, sailing etc and the countryside is stunning as we're on the edge of the national park. The Dalby Forest is only a short drive away as are the Forge Valley, the moors, Helmsley, York and Malton. The lovely Cayton Bay beach is also just 15 mins away.The Black Swan pub in North Yorks was recently voted the Best Restaurant in the World by TripAdvisor.
