Red Rose Cottage is one of two newly renovated luxurious executive cottages that once housed the village Bakery, property perfect for totally unwinding and entertaining and business travel ready too. Situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, which was bestowed the honour of World Heritage Summer 2017 , Red Rose cottage gives ease of access to the coast, fells and lakes and enables enjoyment of the restaurants and bars in the towns of Keswick & Cockermouth . Explore the Western Fells with its dramatic scenery or ramble by the riverside and finish off with a real ale in the village pubs.
I have lived in the village since I was 13 and my son Jamie all his life, he bought the disused Bakery after we sadly lost the Baker after 25 years of trading and renovated the building into 2 cottages , Bakers Cottage is next door and also set up as a holiday let, Jamie races Motocross as a profession and between us we host the cottages as well as running the family Pest Control & Training business. with my husband Mike . The village has a new bakery which is lovely for the villagers. Not too much time for hobbies, but food & drink, walking, family time and following Jamie racing all around the UK and Europe.
Our village is elevated but runs along side the River Derwent with is fabulouse scenery , so long riverside rambles are a must and as we have 5 village public houses, so refreshments of selected gins and real ales with the bonus of Sky Sports in the Legion. A delightful village bakery will tempt your taste buds and the local post office will help with all things business /travel related and with a off licence too. Broughton Craggs Country House hotel is a short walk and Carvery nights Thurs/Sun and their afternoon teas are delicious. Drive 2 miles into Cockermouth and visit William Wordsworth , National Trust Property, the Local Jennings brewery and we have a distillery near too , you will never be short of beautiful restaurants to dine in and breath taking scenery. A walk around the shores of Buttermere is spectacular only 7 miles away., & Wainwright has 214 walks mapped out which is a fantastic way to learn about the lakes. Culture/Art events are held in the Kirkgate Centre or The Blue box theatre in Keswick so very interesting and If its adventure you seek , we have the Highest Mountain Scafell Pike ,or lots of Watersports and mountain biking.
