Roth Ach is a detached house on a quiet cul-de-sac, looking out over a spectacular view of the Moray Firth, famed for its pod of blue-nosed dolphins. In fact occasionally these can be spotted at a distance from the rear of the house , but Chanonry Point said to be the best land-based viewing point for dolphins in the UK is visible from the house and can be reached from here in less than 10 minutes. The house has an attractive garden on a steep south facing slope which has been made accessible by the installation of paths and steps which form a short woodland walk. Roth Ach was completely refurbished in 2010 and for a few years until we moved in it had great success as a holiday let
Chris is a former Training and Development Consultant, previously with Reuters and graduated (several decades ago it must be said) in modern languages. He can therefore operate successfully in French and a little less so in German. Val is a practising therapist qualified and with a long history of success in Lymphatic Massage, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Nutritional Therapy. We have a garden studio in the grounds of the house set up for this practice so there is no conflict between these activities and the operation of the guest house. Her background in Nutrition means that we pay particular attention to offering a healthy breakfast to guests with as far as possible organic and locally sourced ingredients on the menu. Having run a guest house previously for several years in Inverness we have a good understanding of the facilities and tourist attractions in the area
The village of Avoch, an old fishing village with charming harbour, is only 5 minutes downhill walk and offers a good restaurant, mini-market and pub as well as churches, Post Office and of course, fish and chip shop. There is a lovely walk of about 30 minutes along the old railway line to Fortrose which opens up other dining possibilities and points of historical interest. From the house a short walk will take you to Ormond Castle, a ruined fort once the abode of the Duke of Moray and the location which saw the assembling of troops to support William Wallace in his fight with the English. The area abounds in other interests. Fairy Glen, Rosemarkie Beach, Groam House Museum Cromarty to name just a few of the tourist attractions in the area
