Information about the host

Red House Lodge is a self-contained four-bed space, separate from the main farmhouse of Red House. We operate self-check-in with a secure key lock box so you can come and go as you please. Inside is a lounge, diner and kitchen area, including fridge, cooker and microwave. Continental breakfast is left out for you for the duration of your stay. The lodge has its own garden area with outside seating and a wonderful view of the South Downs.

We have been at Red House since 2017 and last year bought the lodge, which we have been upgrading to offer bed and breakfast to guests from the beginning of May.

Petersfield is located in the peaceful Hampshire countryside within the South Downs National Park, a centre for hiking and mountain-biking, yet London is just over one hour away (Waterloo). Travelling south, HMS Victory, the Mary Rose, and HMS Warrior are just 30 minutes away at Portsmouth, accessible by train and car. Petersfield is also within easy reach of horse racing at Goodwood, the Chichester Festival Theatre, polo at Midhurst, the Watercress Line steam railway at Alresford, historic Winchester, and the beaches at Hayling Island and the Witterings. There is plenty to do and see in the historic Petersfield market town with its wide selection of pubs, cafes, and boutique shops. There are regular farmers' markets in the town square, and a Saturday market. The Queen Elizabeth Country Park is just a couple of miles away from the town, from where you can visit Butser Hill and Ancient Farm Iron Age settlement. In the town there is indoor swimming, gym and classes available at the Taro Leisure Centre, and outdoor swimming pool in the summer at Petersfield Lido.
