During Covid19 lockdown Ivy Cottage is still open for letting for key workers undertaking their business activities. Ivy Cottage is a pretty detached upside down cottage in the heart of the desirable rural hamlet of Woolverton with 3 bedrooms, garden and parking enjoying views across the fields and countryside beyond. Woolverton just a 15 minute drive from the beautiful world heritage city of Bath. It is a cosy stone built detached country cottage with original exposed timber beams, floorboards and exposed oak studded walls and window seats in abundance. The accommodation is reversed with the lounge dining and kitchen on the first floor to take advantage of the views of the glorious Somerset countryside. There is an inglenook fireplace and wood burner in the large open plan lounge/dining room, which also has a double sofa bed if required, increasing the sleeping capacity from 6 to 8 guests. The lounge/dining room is light and airy with large windows letting in natural sunlight even though it is an exposed beamed cottage.
There are many fine country walks meandering around the River Frome which has remains of several 16th Century water-powered woollen mills., including Rode Mill which is where the colour dye "Royal Blue" was invented. There are several other local village country pubs and several restaurants within 5 minutes drive of Ivy Cottage, including Tuckers Grave inn at Falkland, which has changed little over the last 100 years, serving local ales and scrumpy cider direct from the barrel to the glass. The famous George Inn at Norton St. Philip is only 1 mile away, is one of the oldest Inn's in England and has the longest-running licence dating back to the 14th century. It was built as a guest house for the monks of Hinton Charterhouse Priory ion the 12th century and was at the centre of a battle in 1685 between the Kings troops and the pretender to the throne, the Duke of Monmouth. There are several nearby local villages and the small market towns of Frome and Bradford on Avon. It is also in easy reach of the world heritage city of Bath and historical castles at Nunney and Farleigh Hungerford.
