Swordale is a traditional crofting village in the Point peninusla, just 5miles from Stornoway town centre. Our local shop, Buth an Rubha, and Cafe Roo are a ten minute walk or minutes drive away. Swordale shore and the Braighe beach are within walking distance to the Bothy, as are machair, moor and coastal path walks, just a minutes walk from the Bothys front door. Whales, dolphins and sea eagles can regularly be seen off the village headland and from Tiumpan Head in Point, which is widely considered as one of the best places for whale watching in the UK - check out the Hebridean Whale Trail site!
