Greengates is a property that comfortably absorbs bigger groups. It has a well appointed kitchen, and good, well sized dining and sitting rooms. On the ground floor there is a small laundry with a washing machine and a conservatory with access to the garden on one side and swimming pool on the other. The garden side has a patio excellent for outdoor lunches, teas and beers, and apart from swimming, the pool is a really nice sun bathing area. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, the master with a double bed the other with a double and two bunks, and two smaller bedrooms one with two singles and the other with one single. The sizeable bathroom has a separate shower and toilet and there are two other separate toilets one upstairs, one down. Our guests have access to the playroom on the other side of the car park where there is a table tennis table.
In the twenty years we have been letting Greengates mainly over summer periods, we are proud to say many of our guests are repeat visitors. They come because it is easy to access and use, comfortable and offers a good choice between staying put or visiting local attractions. As hosts we enjoy knowing we are able to offer our guests these options. Ours is a family of keen cyclists, for which the flat quiet lanes of Somerset are perfect and we are devoted to the wonderful sense of big skies and wide open space the Levels offer.
Guests who feel like being active at Greengates are spoilt for choice. Wokey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and the Mendips are all 10 or so miles away. Nearer than that at 5 miles is the huge stretch of Burnham Beach, or the same at Weston Super Mare at 10 miles. A bit further on to the southwest are the Quantocks, which rise up behind Minehead, Porlock Weir and Lynmouth and Lynton to form Exmoor. Visiting Dunster castle near Minehead makes a really nice day out. If you are a family of keen bird watchers the reserve on Steart Peninsular is the place for you. It's accessible by going to Bridgwater and travelling up the south side of the Parrot River. If steam railways are more your scene you could try the 22 mile long West Somerset railway that runs from Bishop Lydeard near Taunton to Somerset.
