Information about the host

Crofters Cottage is a traditional built stone cottage with "thatch" roof and equipped with modern amenities within. A 1 bedroom property which is ideal for couples. Comfortable living room with log burning stove (small amount of wood provided), a selection of books and dvd's. Having our own spring water supply means that we don't have to use the mains supply and our guests can enjoy drinking fresh Skye water without any added chemicals. Bikes and fishing rods are stored in the garden shed for your use during your stay. Located in a very quiet area, which makes for a more relaxing holiday, surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife, the cottage looks out on to Loch Caroy. Please note that mobile phone coverage within the cottage is not good, you may pick up a signal outwith the cottage. The cottage is rated 5* with Visit Scotland. Due to current extra cleaning at this time, unnecessary items have been removed from the cottage, ie, books, games, DVD’s, excess crockery, cutlery, cushions, binoculars etc. We hope this will not affect your stay. It would be much appreciated if guests were able to strip the bed on their departure day and leave the windows open.

We purchased the cottage in September 2016. We live within 10 minutes from the cottage, which makes it very useful should guests require any assistance with anything.

The nearest village to the cottage is in Dunvegan which takes approx 10 minutes to drive to. There you will find the world famous Dunvegan Castle, a Post Office, Filling Station, a small grocery shop, Fruit & Veg shop, Skye's Oldest Bakery, various places to eat. The town of Portree is approx 40 minutes away where you will find a variety of shops and places to eat. The cottage is situated in an ideal place to explore the island.
