Information about the host

St George's was built around 1890 and has been a guest house since the 2nd world war when it was used to house RAF Halifax bomber crews. Before that it was a large family house, with servants quarters on the second floor. There have only been 6 owners of this house, we have been here for over 25 years now and it is our family home.

We are 1 mile from the city centre, around a 20 min walk. St George's is situated in a quiet residential Cul-de-sac off Tadcaster Road. Tadcaster Road (the A1036) is one of the main roads into the city and runs along side Yorks racecourse. Within a 10 min walk, just before the city walls, there are pubs, restaurants, a cinema, a Sainsbury's local and a chemist. There is a regular bus service with our stop being a short walk away.
