Information about the host

I first visited Appledore 30 years ago - by complete chance! Immediately, I fell in love with its delightful alleys and lanes that encompass the brightly painted cottages revealing their rich heritage and lively cultural scene. Several visits later, I was compelled to regularly return to this enchanting village, and Catboat Cottage soon became my coastal retreat. This time-tested love affair has witnessed a new generation grow, leave home, and return to Catboat Cottage with their own friends and families. My experience of travelling with small children felt more like moving house; so my aim was to equip the cottage for all ages, especially our younger guests. The twin bedroom is decorated for the young at heart. As well as baby equipment, there’s a supply of bedtime stories, family games and DVDs. Hopefully parents won't feel like they need another holiday once they've packed and unpacked! Having been closed for many months during 2021, I seized the opportunity to refurbish the cottage, trying to support small, local businesses wherever possible in the process. From fabrics that are designed and printed in Cornwall, to artwork, mirrors and wall hangings by local artists.
