The Angel Inn

In beautiful rural Cumbria, this traditional pub and restaurant dates from 1611. The Angel Inn offers home-cooked meals and real ales, amongst the charming 17th-century stone buildings of Alston village.

The starting point for the scenic South Tynedale Railway, England's highest narrow gauge train line, is 5 minutes’ walk from the Angel. Village pubs and restaurants are on the doorstep.

Rooms each have a private bathroom, as well as a TV and free tea and coffee.

Providing full English breakfasts every morning, the Angel also serves hearty evening meals in the restaurant and in the quiet garden.

At about 1,000 feet above sea level, Alston is the highest market town in England. The tranquil local hills are just a few minutes’ walk from the Inn, and the Coast to Coast Route and Pennine Way Walk pass through the town.
